    Academic Gowns

    Academic gowns are academic regalia or graduation attire worn to commencement and graduation ceremonies. They are full length, flowing robes that are full cut, and suit both female and male figures. The cloth that makes these robes is wrinkle free and lightweight. The gown for a bachelors graduate has sleeves that are shaped like a bell while the master’s gown spots end-closed long sleeves with an above elbow slit for the hand to pass through. Curved yokes are more traditional in their styling while modern academic gowns have a straighter or square yoke. Black is the more conventional color for academic gowns, but today many colored gowns are offered by the different educational institutions.

    The New Americans

    June 14th, 2008

    In order to preserve America’s reputation for being a refuge and a nurturing environment for family living, we must allow all who wish to live here to do so. Certainly there must be controls, information records and deporting if necessary.

    Americans are fortunate to attract the cream of foreign society. The average emigrant is
    above average in ambition, intelligence, health and commitment. The government should
    encourage the learning of English as a second language by providing free language classes
    to all who would attend. Bi-lingual signs are necessary for the expedient flow of information It has no effect on the wish to learn English. Free education is the key to a
    better life and the immigrants are no exception.

    New identifiers are being invented and will become available to help the government and
    immigration authorities keep track of foreigners in our country. The proper use of this
    information is key to safe guarding the American population and to help guide the immigrants to a better life.

    Just as we need doctors, nurses, executives and teachers, we also need waiters, factory workers and fruit pickers. Strong laws are necessary to make sure that the immigrants are legal. They should be proud of who they are and be committed to getting the correct paper work in order to take advantage of the many privileges and benefits of American society. Americans who take advantage of the immigrants in order to save money in paying wages should be found out and prosecuted. Any immigrants who refuse to follow the system should be deported immediately. Sporadic ID checks in towns near the borders will go a long way to keep the cheaters to a minimum.

    Wealthy Nations, World Citizens and NGOs Only Give When It Is Popular

    May 26th, 2008

    Many folks watching current events have observed that after a major event, world crisis or Natural Disaster many people, governments, organizations and wealthy elite give. But only if it is popular, when they can get publicity or when it is news worthy. This was recently discussed in an online think tank, when one thinker stated;

    “People tend to assume that environmental consequences are a result of things, a default arising due to a change in the nature of events, its believed to be a phase that captures various minds and thoughts for a stipulated period and its urgency evaporates in no time. For eg; the Tsunami was an environmental hazard that ruined and touched the lives of millions, but concern was more over who helped whom and how”

    You seem to be looking a gift horse in the mouth; shame on you for your linear thinking. You see Corporations and People do not have to give. They give for personal motivations or public relations or a multitude of reasons. Rather than focusing on why they give. Why not just say thank you? And I say to this issue, at least they gave money, assistance and collected volunteers.

    If we really want to finish the job as you state and set up an environmental roadmap for the future there, then too, we would need to get monies, assistance and volunteers as well. That is not easy at all. Perhaps we should rethink the complaint, offer this as a “True’ism and Given” and then move onto the solution without condemnation of those who give or question their motivation or sincerity you see?
